Spirit Day

Preacher:  Cynthia Hagen

John 7:37-39

37 On the last day, the climax of the festival, Jesus stood and shouted to the crowds, “Anyone who is thirsty may come to me! 38 Anyone who believes in me may come and drink! For the Scriptures declare, ‘Rivers of living water will flow from his heart.’”  39 (When he said “living water,” he was speaking of the Spirit, who would be given to everyone believing in him. But the Spirit had not yet been given, because Jesus had not yet entered into glory.

Johns 16:5-7

  1. “But now I am going away to the one who sent me, and not one of you is asking where I am going.Instead, you grieve because of what I’ve told you.But in fact, it is best for you that I go away, because if I don’t, the Advocate won’t come. If I do go away, then I will send him to you.

A.  Holy Spirit why?

  1. What the Holy Spirt does
  1. Gifts of the spirit:
  • 1 Corinthians 12:7-11
  • Romans 12:6
  • Ephesians 4:11-13
  1. Charles Swindoll on the Spirit:

“Scars He wants to remove

Fractured feelings He wants to heal

Insights He wants to reveal

Profound dimensions of life He would dearly want to open up

The Holy Spirit is the comforting helper

He is the truth-teacher,

the will of the Father revealer

He is our friend

He is God

To remain distant is more than wrong; it is tragic.

Walking in the Spirit is better than good, it is absolutely magnificent.”
