Learn about the Anernino’s experience with WilsonUMC…

We purchased a house in Mountain Shadows in September of 2018, and we have been driving by our neighborhood church for months on end…

As we all know, God tests us and works in his mysterious ways. When my wife Emily was pregnant for the second time. We were once again thrilled with joy knowing all we ever prayed for was a healthy baby. During our week 20 ultrasound, imaging did not show everything clearly for the Dr’s so two weeks later we again went in for enhanced imaging. That is when our life abruptly changed. We learned that our daughter had some things going on with her brain. Some not so normal things within her brain and our life and our mental was quickly hitting rock bottom. The uncertainty, the unknown…the letdown was harder than any rejection I have ever faced in my life and for the first time, we truly felt alone and crushed. Family was beyond supportive but we do not have immediate family in the Springs and FaceTime can only do so much- I had taken time off of work to digest the news as Children’s Hospital in Denver assembled a prenatal team for our soon to be daughter-

My wife, our 3 year old, and myself went out to breakfast during the week and on our way home, I thought it would be a good idea to stop, walk into that church we had driven by so many times. That was the day when peace and faith filled our hearts and provided us with glimpse of beautiful hope. Seriously, we randomly walked into this Wilson United Methodist Church on a Wednesday before lunch because it felt right and sometimes starting something is the hardest part of any journey. That is the day we met Indy. That was the day we met Pastor Dave. The undivided random time that was provided to us, listening, asking questions, and allowing us to share and cry all while showing true care, unconditional love. That encounter will never be forgotten. The next Sunday, we went to Wilson and the feeling of being included was almost instant, not just from the leadership team, but the family known as the congregation of Wilson. To this day, it is a story my family nor I will ever forget. They were there, praying for us and this unknown/unborn baby, providing hope and faith during times of bleakness.

Our baby was born July of 2019 at Children’s Hospital Denver. The stay was long, but the journey was going to be longer. But we knew that we were not going to be alone thanks to Pastor Dave and the Family of Wilson United Methodist Church. What is holding you back from walking in? We had nothing to lose, everything to gain and zero regrets as Wilson has opened our hearts and reignited our passion for Christ and the path, we found within the Church
